What is a podcast?

A podcast is an audio or video program that can easily be watched or downloaded through the internet. Podcasts use what is known as a feed to get their content to websites, MP3 players and other locations. People can then subscribe to the feed by using a program such as iTunes or WinPodder. Some browsers such as Firefox, will allow you to directly bookmark a feed as well.

What is a feed?

A feed is a way of publishing content, including news, audio and video. Think of it this way. When you have your TV on, the picture and audio is called the feed. Why? Because it is the source of where the information is coming from. Without the video feed, there would be no picture and without the audio feed, there would be no sound.

Do I have to “subscribe” to get the podcast? Do I need an iPod?

You do not have to subscribe to a feed to get the content from it. Subscribing just automatically delivers the content to you when you open the program you used to subscribe. If you prefer to just go to our website and download the audio files directly, that is OK too.

You also do not need an iPod to listen to the show. You can listen right from your computer or, you can download the file to a MP3 player, or burn it to a CD. Our show uses the MP3 audio format, which is recognized by a wide variety of players and applications.

Our site also has a great playback feature that will allow you to listen to an episode right through its post.  Just click on the episode you want to listen to, and hit the play button.

If I want to subscribe, how can I do that?

Easy, just enter the feed address into your podcast “catching” application, such as iTunes or WinPodder. You can also click on the iTunes link to subscribe in iTunes or the link below it, which may be recognized by other programs.
