Happy 2012 from Life on Fire

Hey Everyone,

We just wanted to let you all know that we took a couple of weeks off for Christmas and New Year’ eve.  We are alive and well and will have PLENTY to talk about in our first episode of the new year this upcoming week.

We have made some great steps forward with our Dave Ramsey program and Tanya has made a lot of great food.

We hope you and your families had a safe set of holidays.  We hope and pray that this new year will be full of blessings for you and that God guides you safely through any troubles that might come your way.

God Bless,

Chris, Tanya and Linus

Hacked…again…

So,

There was supposed to be a new episode of the Life on Fire podcast posted on Sunday.  We had recorded it Friday but, were busy and finally had some time to post it on Sunday.

It was then when I discovered that our site had been compromised, AGAIN.  This was extremely off-putting and frustrating to me, simply because I had been through this before and had changed all of our passwords to hyper-secure, complex, muti-character type passwords the last time that this happened.  Not only that, but, I checked my own machine for any key-loggers or viruses that  might transmit the passwords to an unseen foe.

This time took 4 days to correct the issue.

I really don’t understand how this could have happened again considering that I always do my security patches right when they come out.

At this point, I think we are going to be moving this website to a new host.  It isn’t that this host hasn’t been good to us, and doesn’t offer a fair price or anything like that.  They have been somewhat helpful when these events have happened.

However, it is very unsettling to me that I have now twice had to re-build all 3 of the sites I host here, each time being a series of days worth of work.  I can’t find any fault with the way that we operate the site, considering we apply patches when they come out and have made extremely secure passwords for all accounts.

I will be performing the move later tonight, and nobody should notice the difference, save for a new post letting everyone know the move has been completed.  The host we are switching to has gotten great reviews, offers great pricing and also has an affiliate program too, which might allow us to defray the costs of hosting.  Not that it is expensive but, anything helps in this enconomy.

Anyway, look for episode 74 to be posted in the next 30 minutes or so.  We truly apologize for the delay in posting the episode and hope that the move later tonight will prevent any further problems in the future.

God Bless,

Chris

Flakey Feed

It appears that there are some issues with our feed and with some new plugins…we’re working on a solution right now.

New Web Design Completed

Hey All,

Sorry for the amount of updates in a short time span.  However, there have been a lot of great developments over the past hours and days.

The new site design has been fully tweaked and implemented.

Chris and Tanya decided on this theme because it reflects both their love of coffee and portrays the warm friendly, God-filled family environment that they wish to represent their lives.

The site now has some new features, including social networking buttons which will allow visitors to directly share any post with many of the current social networks.

There have been a couple of new links and pages added.  Specifically, you can now access all of the Life on Fire podcast episodes from a secondary item under the LOF Show menu.  Feeds for podcasts, along with instructions for iTunes are now provided in the “Subscription/Feeds” link under the Podcasts? menu.

The “Live” page has been removed, as there were only one or two shows ever recorded live.  However, this isn’t to say that this page will not return, depending upon how the site and podcast re-launch go.

There will be some further updates to the “Widgets” and “Interact” pages in the future but, it is too late (or early) to work on those minor changes now.

We at Life on Fire hope that everyone likes the new changes and also hope that they will inspire us to further outreach in the Digital Continent.

God Bless,

Chris, Tanya and Linus

Feed Changes

Hello Everyone,

To those who are currently subscribed to the feed for the Life on Fire podcast, we just want to let you know that we have made some back-end changes to how the feed works.  You should notice no difference or interruption in the episode list.  If there is, please let us know.

We have made this change in order to better isolate the Life on Fire podcast into its own category, instead of using the podcast category feed directly.  There are some other potential ideas that we are looking into, and don’t want to have everything tied into one podcast feed.

We are not saying that there is definitely anything new coming down the pipe, with the exception being the Life on Fire podcast.  However, Chris has been thinking and praying about a new show idea, which may or may not materialize.

This is also in preparation for a website theme change, which may be completed later tonight.

God Bless,

Chris, Tanya and Linus
