My Review:
Tanya and I love our local package store. They do wine and beer tastings, have a huge variety of both beverages and best of all, they let you mix and match your own six pack, so you can try something new without committing to it. We don’t go there often but, when we do, there is always something new to try.
One of the items I picked this time was a beer from the Southern Tier Brewing Company called Hop Sun: Southern Wheat Brew. Tanya actually tried a sip before me and said she thought it tasted “wheaty”. The beer definitely has a very aromatic, sweet wheat smell to it. However, what I taste more are the hops.
When the beer first hits your tongue, you get a brief hint of a wheat flavor. However the main/middle part of the experience is the somewhat bitter taste of hops. It isn’t as strong as a pale ale but, has a pretty good kick to it. Once the hops subside a bit, you again pick up the sweet wheat flavor, if only as an after taste.
This is a good beer for people who prefer a stronger flavor and something with a kick.
